When Is Passover In 2017?

Passover
The Bread and the Wine; keep Passover…in remembrance of Messiah

Passover greetings to you my Christian Friend, from our Saviour and King, Y’shuah the Messiah (The Lord Jesus Christ):

Long ago the apostle to the Hebrews has enjoined upon believers to recognize the holy assemblies of the saints: “24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10: 24, 25.

This passage teaches that “the manner of some” is to forsake “the assembling of ourselves together,”  and has been applied by Christians for centuries now, to the practice of Church gatherings on Sabbaths or on Sundays, and by extension on “Wednesday night prayer meetings.” And while this understanding can be extended and applied to local called church gatherings, we must be aware that Paul was writing to the “Hebrews,” a people who knew and understood the Torah.  In this context, then, he was appealing to their knowledge of the “holy convocations” (Lev. 23: 2), or “solemn assemblies,” that YHWH had prescribed in His Law (read Leviticus chapter 23) as an ordinance, during which time His people would come before Him in a Holy solemnities.  The manner of some was to forsake these gatherings, and so the injunction was given to not neglect these assemblies.  There are many purported “Present Truth” believers today who totally disavow and disregard these divinely instituted appointments, even though the Creator has enjoined upon us who are living just before “the great and dreadful day of the Lord” (Mal. 4: 5), comes to “remember” (Mal. 4: 4) these holy solemnities.

We at HKM have come to realize that these convocations were never “nailed to the cross,” as is popularly taught, and find relevance and fresh meaning in their continuance today.  We are also assured that they will continue to be recognized by the redeemed throughout the unending cycles of eternity (Isa. 66: 23).  So, contrary to Roman Catholicised teachings that the so-called “Ceremonial law” has been “nailed to the Cross,” we hold that the Sacrifice has been nailed with all our sins to the cross, but that Jesus Christ (Y’shuah) has simultaneously commissioned believers everywhere to “do this (Passover) in remembrance of” His great sacrifice, and Paul also reminds us that our partaking of this “supper” does show the Lord’s death “till He comes.” Together then, we can see that Passover was not nullified at Calvary, in as much as the Paschal Lamb has been offered once and for all times thereafter.  Indeed, we are, in the main, vegan vegetarians, and as such dispense with the flesh of animals as food.  Hence, were we today commanded to sacrifice a Lamb at Passover, it would be an act of insult to the One who has died for the sins of the World on Calvary’s Cross.  At the last Passover with His disciples He promised that He will not eat this bread or drink this cup with us, not forever, but until He does it anew with us when He comes in the kingdom of Glory; and experience yet future.

From our recent Sunday meetings, we have been discussing the importance of the Calendar, and how to get everyone on the same page from year to year, no matter where we live on earth.  I want to clear up just one small potential for misunderstandings: When is the feast of unleavened bread?  Do note, as also tabulated below, that the dates I have provided in my calculations are the periods of time considered by YHWH to be “holy time,” and freed from servile (gainful employment) labor.  In this regard, then, I have not considered the days that are not restricting us from gainful work.  You will notice, for example, that Passover is in reality an 8-day event (Ex. 12:18), stretching from the 14th of Nissan thru to the 21st (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21).  Because of having to correct for our living in Roman/Civil time, it is at times confusing for some feast keepers to realize that while we are under the Civil calendar, for example, last night at 9:30 pm, that would have been April 5th by Bible time, though still April 4th by Civil (Roman) time.  So Passover Supper this year is on April 12th, which is from the second evening of April 11th (sunset Tuesday) to the first evening of April 13th(Sunset Wednesday).  Do recall that a biblical day is bounded by two evenings (or two sunsets)!  Please follow closely the table below:Passover Calendar 2017

The purpose of this table is to assist us with the days we need to take off from work.  Since the Bible commands that both the first and last day of Unleavened Bread (UB) are Sabbaths or “holy convocations,” then you would be absent from work on Wednesday, April 12th and also on Tuesday April 18th, both of which are holy days.

Strictly speaking then, we would say that Passover this year is from the evening of April 12th thru the evening of April 13th, as illustrated above, and that it ends on April 19th (Sunset, Tuesday, the 18th).  Coincidentally, the timing of Passover this year is identical to that of 31 AD, the year Jesus died.  Most Christians, including Seventh-day Adventists teach that Passover, on the year Jesus died, was on a Friday, completely ignoring the basic fact that the Bible teaches that he ate the Passover with His disciples before he suffered (read Luke 22: 13-17).

Please join us by Skype for Bible Study and Worship and fellowship on both Holy Days mentioned above.  To join us by Skype our room name is Heraldingking.  We will start the program from 2 PM, EST and close the room by 5:30 PM.  Please plan on worshiping with us, and bring along you testimony.  We want to especially welcome those who are for the first time recognizing that God did not crucify His Law when Christ died, but that “He carried our sins with Him there; they’re nailed to the cross, nailed to the Cross, O how much He was willing to bear!  With what anguish and loss, Jesus went to the Cross, and He carried my sins with Him there!”

If you do not have Skype access, or if per chance we are not present on Skype that day, you may join us on the Conference Line at: www.freeconfeencecall.com The telephone number is: 1-641-715-3580 and the PIN#: 944823#;  Login with the same credentials for screen sharing.  Have a blessed Passover season in Messiah.  Please meditate on the words of the below song:

Christ, our Redeemer, Died on the Cross

1 Christ our Redeemer died on the cross,
Died for the sinner, paid all his due;
Sprinkle your soul with the blood of the Lamb,
And I will pass, will pass over you.

Chorus:
When I see the blood,
When I see the blood,
When I see the blood,
I will pass, I will pass over you.

2 Chiefest of sinners, Jesus will save;
As He has promised, that He will do;
Wash in the fountain opened for sin,
And I will pass, will pass over you. (Chorus)

3 Judgment is coming, all will be there,
Each one receiving justly his due;
Hide in the saving sin-cleasing blood,
And I will pass, will pass over you. (Chorus)

4 O great compassion! O boundless love!
O loving kindness, faithful and true!
Find peace and shelter under the blood,
And I will pass, will pass over you. (Chorus)
